GI bleed embolized with Embold™ Fibered Coils

Presentation

Patient presented with symptoms and a positive nuclear medicine scan of the transverse colon showed a GI bleed.

Intervention

A TruSelect™ Microcatheter was used to navigate the distal, 2 mm tortuous distal branch coming off the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) feeding the transverse colon, which was embolized with two 2x4 Embold Fibered Coils causing hemostasis.

Outcome

The patient avoided an open surgical procedure for the life-threatening bleeding and had a short hospital stay.
